Monopoly

That’s Rich.

If you play your cards right you'll reach The American Dream. That's rich. Our financial system works for everyone, honestly! That's rich. Poor people should just roll the dice in life and hope for the best. That's rich.

While Monopoly was originally intended to be a critique on this capitalistic myth, most people simply play the game for fun. So in a time where wealth disparities and other inequalities are front and center in our culture, let's use the Monopoly brand to start a conversation about how our financial system is just so wrong, it's funny.

Casual money struggles? Monopoly gets it.

Pieces of Us

It’s finally game night and it’s time to pass out the playing pieces. The tokens consist of newly designed charms such as an inflation icon, food stamp, money bag, pride flag, handcuffs, and a white picket fence. These new tokens display both the American dream and the American nightmare, let the games begin.

Loaded Dice

Well, not so fast. Before you can begin take a look at your chosen game piece as each one will indicate a separate amount of starting game play money and properties. While Monopoly has always mimicked the absurdity of capitalism, it hasn’t accurately mimicked the uneven playing field. Okay, now have fun.

Rags to Riches Maze

While game night might be less conversational and more of a poker face match for some families, the Monopoly exhibition will leave room for discussion inside an immersive way to play the game and get in the shoes of others. Enter into the exhibit as a living game piece. You’ll be handed a ticket that indicates your identity at the start. Your moves are based on that character. Good luck out there.

Super Size Life

Two American icons that have stood the test of time are continuing the McDonalds Monopoly. But, with a twist. While you’ll be able to win free fries and a big mac every now and then, the grand cash prize will be no cash at all. The lottery consists of only life changing wins like, a full ride to college and a starter home. These American icons are keeping the dream alive and providing helpful change instead of pocket change.
